Zoe Symonds

Part II Architectural Assistant

BA (Hons) MArch

Zoe returned to Hollaway in September 2025 after completing her Master of Architecture (MArch) at the University of Kent. She previously worked at Hollaway during her Part I placement and returned during summer breaks to gain further experience. For her dissertation artefact, Zoe designed and built a contemporary & sustainable shepherd’s hut—a thoughtfully crafted ‘tiny house’ complete with its own heating, bathroom, kitchenette, and a full-size pull-down bed. The hut also features a solar panel and a rooflight designed for stargazing.

Zoe’s final year project explored the innovative use of salt harvesting to support health and wellbeing. She incorporated salt into both the interior and façade of her design. In recognition of her work, she was nominated for the AJ Student Award 2025 by her course leader.

Outside of work, Zoe enjoys spending time with her family and looking after her many animals. She’s an active member of the local cricket club, regularly paddleboards, and loves long walks in the countryside.
