Danka Stefan

Associate Architect

Danka joined the Practice in 2013 having previously worked in Birmingham, London and Canterbury. She studied architecture at IUAV, Venice (Italy) and is an experienced Project Architect with extensive practical understanding of educational, residential, and commercial design projects. She became an Associate in 2017 and aides Matt in the running of Studio 1.

At Hollaway, Danka has been the project architect on a number of successful large educational projects for Kent County Council from initial design stages through to completion. These include The Beacon, Folkestone SEN School and Nexus SEN School. Danka was also the Project Architect on the Curious Brewery in Ashford for Chapel Down, which was shortlisted for the AJ Awards and RIBA regional award (2020), and is the winner of RICS South East Awards for the commercial category.

Outside of work, Danka is also a part-time sessional lecturer at the UCA Canterbury School of Architecture where she teaches Future Practice module to M.Arch students and has been a visiting critic at both UCA and Kent School of Architecture (University of Kent). She is also an active RIBA member and was previously the chair of the Canterbury & District regional RIBA branch and in addition has been organizing Women in Architecture Meetups in Canterbury since 2014. Danka is a regionally elected member of the RIBA Council for a three-year term beginning September 2020.
